edit: well, never thought this could happen, but in 2 days you've overthrown my most faved deviation... i simply love you all
:
<rant> also, although i like to leave it up to people to think up all kinda meanings, all think nothing into it because that is what art is about
BUT, in this case i really, really, would like to point out that there is no no-background. there is. it's white, but not because of lack of creativity but because it's supposed to be and i'm not getting into details cuz i royally suck at describing things... but it's not just 'white' or 'bland' >(</rant>ah, my first real art done with the help of sai |D i

the thing

well, my idea isn't as original as i would have liked (so it turned out when during the coloring process i realized i need a bit of ref for the colors of the butterfly...) but i like it

also, i'm glad i'm done with this, especially cuz in the next two months it's rather questionable i'll have the time (and will) to do anything grand like this... now that i think about it even though it's one of the simplest designs i've ever done yet it took weeks to finish with all touch-ups and details (that appeared, disappeared then reappeared, etc.), and not to even mention the coloring (now that was a major pain in the...) on the other hand, i had a lot of fun with the texturing later

have a good 10+ versions

Simple words that ring of total truth....
I will start off by saying that I am not one of these typical critics of art that says -
"what's wrong with it and what needs to be improved on"
Because that's an opinion...
INSTEAD ~
I am one who - "takes in the view" - enjoys it and then remarks on it...
This - MASTERPIECE - left me speechless when I first saw it.
Mainly because the colours are very well balanced, as do the emotions spring form it...
I like the way the butterflies spring from the sides upwards, guiding ones eyes to the focal point, which is Rukia's exquisite expression...
The melancholic expression on Rukia's face to the butterflies in this awesome creation ~
Then we follow (back) downwards and onto her hands...
Great use of the action and emotions of the viewer to make them - "follow" - what needs to be followed. ~
I APPROVE!!
I (personally) have not seen this pose or expressive stance in a Rukia creation, however (to me) its very original.
So, original (in fact) that I can see/imagine this on the back of a heavy black coloured T-shirt, with a Hell Butterfly blue glowing silhouette, as a small crest design on the left chest of the shirt.
In fact if this was made into a HQ shirt, I would be the first in line to purchase it, its THAT GOOD!
One can not really place an opinion on technique on anyone's creation - (mainly because its not fair) - and they vary so much that one is already - setting standards - on how it should be done.
Nonetheless...
The render itself is done perfectly and it is apparent that the artist took time in making this as beautiful as possible...
End result! = IT IS!!
and it made an INSTANT IMPACT!!!
I was left speechless, my jaw open, and my eyes are "Blessed" in being able to see it.
